Did you know?

His mother, Mary Fowler, was a medical missionary in the Orient in the late 19th and

early 20th  centuries.  She married a ship's captain named Robert D. Thompson, and

their child, Robert Donald Thompson, was born in Burma

After his playing career, Don became a sportscaster on the West Coast, then a producer

for NBC, for whom he worked until his retirement.  During Word War II, he worked in

Naval Intelligence under Admiral Nimitz.

The guy listed on most websites, who was born in Indiana, doesn't even have

the right middle name - his was "Edris" - and had nothing to do with football.
