He was killed while enroute to a football banquet when his car overturned. 

At the time of his death, he was the Ohio State freshman football coach. 

In his college days, he was trying to keep the game alive by being a player/coach

since not many students were interested in playing football at CBC.


Many web sites have his brother "Charley" as the guy who played for the

Panhandles in 1920.  We believe he never played pro-football and it was

Walter that was the pro-football player.
