He died of a heart attack after playing in a game between the Chicago Cardinals

and the Philadelphia Eagles.  The Cardinals won 21-14.  After the game, Mauldin,

while undressing, complained of a headache.  He took a shower and commented to

his teammates, "That was a pretty nice game we won fellows."  He then collapsed.

Paramedics were rushed in to try and revive him.  They worked on him for well over

an hour.  The doctor on hand, Dr. Sidney Portis, pronounced him dead.
