Did you know?

Kranz was drafted in the 21st round by the Green Bay Packers in the 1949 NFL

Ken Kranz signed with the Green Bay Packers on April 10, 1949.

"I played one year and made $3,500. Curly Lambeau promised me that if I made the

team and signed a contract I'd earn a bonus with my salary next year (1950) at $4,000,"

Kranz said.  But at the end of the season Lambeau explained that the Packers were in debt

and that "no, I'm not going to give it to you," said Kranz.

Then, "he up and signed with the Cardinals, left the Packers, and the next coach came in

and sent me a contract to sign for the same $3,500."

"I talked it over with my wife and we decided it was better that I go back and finish my

degree in elementary education," Kranz said. (Sussex Patch - 02/07/01)
