Dave Costa died after a long battle with leukemia.

Dave signed his first pro-football contract with the Oakland Raiders in

December, 1962.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 3rd round of the 1963 NFL Draft

and by the Oakland Raiders in the 7th round of the 1963 AFL Draft.

During the 1972 pre-season, Dave didn't see eye-to-eye with the new head coach

John Ralston.  He was subsequently traded to the San Diego Chargers for Eddie Ray.
